Directory Information Public Notice
In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), institutions may disclose directory information at their discretion for any purpose without violating FERPA if the student has not restricted their information.
The University designates the following student information as directory information:
- Legal name
- Chosen first name
- Address
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Photographic representations of students
- Major and field of study
- Grade level
- Enrollment status and credit hour load
- Dates of attendanceĀ
- Degrees, honors, and awards received
- Participation in officially recognized activities
Any student records the University releases to third parties will include your legal name but exclude your chosen first name if different from your legal name; however, if a third party uses your chosen first name in a directory information inquiry, the University may acknowledge your chosen first name with the third party when responding to the inquiry.
While attending, you may choose to withhold disclosure of your directory information to third parties by submitting the Directory Information Withholding Request Form. The absence of a specific request to withhold your directory information indicates your approval for disclosure. Additionally, your request to withhold directory information will not affect previous disclosures made by the University prior to receipt of the request.
